  • You Got Me Now

I’ve been a long time wantin’ to see you
And you’ve been a long time waitin’ for me
Now that I’m back I’m comin’ to greet you
You’ve got me right where you want me to be
Now my wanderin’ days are over
    I think I feel a little older
Now I’m home, I don’t need to be blue
’Cause you got me now I belong to you
I get so tired of livin’ alone now
I get so I don’t know what to do
But now that I’m back, I don’t wanna roam now
You got me now I belong to you
And now my wanderin’ days are over
    I think I feel a little older
Now I’m home, I don’t need to be blue
’Cause you got me now I belong to you.

  • Part of Yesterday

I do believe I’m gonna have to say goodbye Though once I loved you There’s another who came and took my heart away Got to go, and there’s just no other way
I’ve got to go, but I can say you really tried
To make our love go on forever
But we were never meant to be
Anymore than what you are to me.
And friend of mine, I used to know you
But now our time has flown away
    You’re not another forgotten lover
You’re just a part of yesterday
Now, I know you think that I’ll be back again someday
You don’t know the things I’ve gotta do
Don’t wait for me to come fallin’ back your way
You can’t see the change I’m goin’ through
I do believe I’m gonna have to say goodbye
    Though once I loved you
There’s another who came and took my heart away
Got to go, and there’s just no other way
And friend of mine, I used to know you
But now our time has flown away
    You’re not another forgotten lover
You’re just a part of yesterday
    Just a part of yesterday
    Just a part of yesterday

  • The Feeling Part

O Music! sphere-descended maid! Friend of Pleasure, Wisdom’s aid!
Why, goddess, why, to us denied,
Layest thou thy ancient lyre aside?
As in that loved Athenian bower you learned an all-commanding power,

Thy mimic soul, O nymph endeared, can well recall what then it heard.
Where is thy native simple heart, Devote to Virtue, Fancy, Art?

    William Collins
The Passions: An Ode For Music (1746)

To think I used to know you in your younger days
Makes me wonder what I left behind
I don’t give much thought to all my former ways
But the road you took is always on my mind
I remember thinking how I knew you well
And how we thought we’d never need to grow
Now something’s missing in your eyes and it’s not hard to tell
And seeing this it makes me want to know
What happened to the feeling part?
    Don’t forget the feeling part
It’s a lonely side you’re on, now your heart is almost gone
What happened to the melody you used to love to sing to me?
I’ll be praying to the end I hope you find that feeling part again
I’m trying to show you someone you can lean upon
I’m trying to read the writing on the wall
You’ve lost the part of life that helps you get along
But He can help you win before you lose it all

  • The Tongue Is A Fire

“Hey, what’s that you say now? Ooh! I hope I’m okay now.”
You’ve got to believe I never really meant to say what I said
Now I can recall your words and they’re echoing in my head
You said, “Your words are going to burn and hound you
When you realize they have found you.
If you think about what you’re saying,
Is it really worth the price you’re paying?
All because you don’t know the tongue is a fire”
I can’t hide any longer, I know I ought to be stronger
Those things will return to me that I’ll wish I never had said
And all of those fiery words are going to bring the tears that l shed

  • Disposable Love

Don’t take it from me ’cause I’m not the one to say
It’s you who told me that your love would never stay
Not putting you down, try to say what you don’t know
But it breaks my heart, you know, it’s sad
Your love is gone and I feel so badly

Knowing that it could have been from Heaven

And you can’t get enough disposable love

Your fun is all gone so you’re walking out her door
Her love just doesn’t give you pleasure anymore
You’re saying to me that it wasn’t in the stars
If she could give you more, then you’d stay
The stars won’t tell you what you’re paying

Don’t you know it could have been from Heaven

You can’t get enough disposable love
You say you need a little more

But do you know you’re really asking

If there’s more to love and life than only pleasure?

  • Nagging Optimism

I just won’t believe it, I know darkness when it comes I would have to see it, even watch those demons run There’s some silent chatter, but no one’s talking on the phone I know what’s the matter, and it won’t leave me alone
What should be nothing but the dead of night
Looks more like something bad gone right
I have no mind for giving up
I just can’t shake it, ’cause I can’t get away from you
Nagging optimism makes me think that I’m okay
And though I can’t believe it, can’t see it any other way
Someone tries to warn me, saying tragedy will fall
But it’s always borne me, knew I’d never hear it call
If there’s something missing, or the story’s just too tall Nagging optimism makes me want to hear it all Some silent chatter could be something I should know I know what’s the matter and it won’t leave me alone

  • Commercial Suicide

He was the prophet of a generation
They watched his every cryptic verb
    People everywhere in many nations
Would bow and worship every word
He gave them songs and made them wild with passion
They would leave his name in history
Then he sang a little out of fashion
And so he gave them one more mystery
And then they cry, “commercial suicide!”
You hear them cry, “commercial suicide!”
Watch how you say it. We’ll never play it!'
They loved a moral battle ’til they fought one
Guess they loved the game but not the rules
They loved a better cause until he brought one
Cause singing Jesus songs is not so cool
