Lyrics from the Album “Dreams, Tales & Lullabies”

  • When At Night

When at night I go to sleep
    Fourteen angels watch do keep
    Two my head are guarding
    Two my feet are guiding
Two are on my right hand
Two are on my left hand
    Two who warmly cover
Two who wake at dawn do hover
    Two to whom ’tis given
To guide my steps to Heaven!

    Written by Engelbert Humperdinck

  • Grandfather’s House

My grandfather lives by the ocean
By the waves and the wind and the rain
In a house that I always did know as a child
And I thought that it never would change
But the years have been gently prevailing
The wind has been waging a war
And the color has slowly been fading away
From the paint on my grandfather's door
Now the cold rushes into my grandfather’s house
With the wind running wild from the shore
Making creaks in the rafters and window panes
As it blows through the door
My grandfather looks to the ocean
At a power that he once would defy
’Til he found that her breezes could take him away
From the cold of a darkening sky.
    Now my grandfather laughs
On the edge of the world
As the ships disappear in the sun
    Where the star-twinkle lights
    Are the window panes
    Of a world just begun
My grandfather waits by the ocean And so he will ever remain ’Til the wind comes to carry him over the sea To a house that will never be changed

  • When He Comes

We’re a silent, snowy sight Frozen dark and blinding light Joining in some deep and magic slumber Snowy prisoners of stone We would leave this sorry home If only we could break the spell were under
    But when he comes
We will see the last of winter
    When he comes
Watch as sorrow tums to light
Every wrong will be made right
    When he comes
We will see a new beginning
    When he comes
We will sing a joyful note
For he will bring a song of hope
    When he comes
All these gray and endless days
    Shivering cold and icy rays
Seem to say they’d be with us forever
But I believe the ancient lore
And so I watch the eastern shore
Looking for a hopeful change of weather
    When he comes
We will see the last of winter
    When he comes
Watch as sorrow turns to light
Every wrong will be made right
    When he comes
We will see a new beginning
    When he comes
We will sing a joyful note
For he will bring a song of hope
    When he comes
I can almost hear him saying
    “Now it won't be long
Before the warmth of spring will come again!”
    When the coldness melts away
I’ll know his move is on
And I know who’s going to win in the end
Are you ready for the day
When every spell will break away
Lifted by the only true redeemer?
When he comes We will see the last of winter When he comes Watch as sorrow tums to light Every wrong will be made right When he comes We will see a new beginning When he comes We will sing a joyful note For he will bring a song of hope When he comes

  • I Saw Your Prayer

I saw your prayer in another world It grew like a flower where spring is unfurled The color was rose and the fragrance sweet And the heart of the flower was glowing
I saw that heart against a winter’s land
It promised that summer would soon be at hand
And the snow that was melting around its feet
Made the tears of a heart overflowing
I saw the flower of your childhood prayer
The innocent blossom, unblemished by care
Was colored with joy of a trusting strain
And the heart of the flower was singing
I saw the prayer of your darkest days
When the rose flushed to crimson
The flower was ablaze with a flame that burns ever
When lovers part and the heart of the flower was rending
I saw the prayer of your golden hour It rode on a snowy white ocean of flowers Pure as the faith that was in your heart As the season of flowers was ending

  • The Son and the Angels

Angels were watching All through the night From the cold, starry heavens above While sleeping below in a manger Was the child of all heavenly love
Angels were singing “Peace on the earth!
The Father has given a Son!
His glory shall be from the highest!
Now the hope of your nation is come!”
The angels were always beside Him
    The baby was never alone
And leaving His childhood behind Him
The Son of the Father was grown
And oh! how the angels were singing!
And oh! what a welcome they gave!
For His glory would come from the highest
And the angels walked with the Son.
From a song of the angels
    A promise came true
But their heartache would darken the sky
And the earth knew the weight of their sorrow
For they found that the Son was to die.
Now ten thousand angels were weeping
Their song fell in mournful refrain
The child had been safe in their keeping
Would all of their love be in vain?
But oh! how the angels were singing And oh! what a welcome they gave For His glory had come from the highest And the angels walked with the Son from the grave

  • When Morning Comes

You think that love’s a distant land
    A fragile golden strand
A pretty picture In some fairy tale
But it’s not so far away
    I can’t touch you and I know
    You’re so afraid to go
    Beyond the reasons
    Why you think that love
    Will break your heart again
That’s not the way the story has to end
When will you ever realize you can’t deny
Those feelings that you try to hold inside?
    You’re saying ‘never’
But I hope you're going to change
For I can see somethings you cannot hide.
Picture this love I have to share
    And keep the vision there
    Until tomorrow
I’ll wait here if I can
    And only hope and see
When morning comes if you’re in love with me.

  • Diamond’s Lullaby

    When Diamond was a baby
And wise for one his age
    He met a certain lady
    A kind and chilly sage
The north wind came one evening
She plucked him from his bed
And soon he took to singing
And this is what he said:
“Take me in your gentle hand
    Meet me in the morrow
Show me to the northern lands
I’ll leave this world of sorrow
There a river calls to me
    It’s singing oh, so sweetly
    And its rhyme and melody
Are waiting there to greet me.”
He let the lady hold him
She pressed him to her breast
And swept the streets below him
With a whisper from her breath
    Now Diamond didn’t know her
    As older people do
So when the ride was over
    He sang a little tune.
“Take me in your gentle hand
    Meet me in the morrow
Show me to the northern lands
I’ll leave this world of sorrow
There a river calls to me
    It’s singing oh, so sweetly
    And its rhyme and melody
Are waiting there to greet me”
As Diamond used to greet her
    And soar across the sky
Someday you’ll want to meet her
She’ll be your wings to fly
So if the North wind finds you
    When your slumbering is deep
Put all your fears behind you
And sing this as you sleep:
“Take me in your gentle hand
    Meet me in the morrow
Show me to the northern lands
I’ll leave this world of sorrow
There a river calls to me
    It’s singing oh, so sweetly
    And its rhyme and melody
Are waiting there to greet me”

  • My Empty Pockets

    Here’s a story, there’s a rhyme
    Dancing on a chorus line
In this pocket full of pictures
    There’s a melody I know
If you pause to listen well
These pebbles have a tale to tell
    These pebbles in my pocket
Are the music of my soul
Some are diamonds hard and true
    Polished stones of royal hue
    Illumined by the color
And the gleam of heaven’s light
Some are only hay or sand
    Showing who I really am
    Fearless in the morning sun
    And tearful in the night
